Community ActionForest communities of the Southwest and the West generally are taking action to improve the health of forests around them, and thereby reduce the hazard of losing forests and even their own communities in intense wildfires. Here are some citeable examples and background:
- Williams et al., 2012. Community Wildfire Protection Planning: How forest communities are organizing to actually dosomething to reduce the threat of losing everything to the next big wildfire.
- Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project. A partnership effort between Arizona, Flagstaff, and the Coconino National Forest to reduce the risk of devastating wildfire and post-fire flooding around Flagstaff.
